Each year, Girl Scouts of all levels can earn the Girl Scout Global Action Award. The Girl Scout Global Action Award focuses on the Global Goals for Sustainable Development. In 2015, leaders from all over the world agreed to work together to accomplish 17 important goals by 2030. The Global Goals for Sustainable Development (or SDGs for short) focus on things like taking care of the environment, making sure all people have enough to eat and improving people’s health. They’re big goals, but Girl Scouts know a thing or two about changing the world!
The year 2020 is the 100th anniversary of the Nineteenth Amendment and the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Platform for Action, an agenda aimed at the rights of women around the world. To honor and learn about these important milestones, this year, the Global Action Award focuses on Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality. Girls can earn their Global Action Award by discovering what gender equality means, connecting with the issues in their community and around the world and completing a Take Action project to make our world a more equal place.
The Global Action Award is an official national award, so you can wear it on the front of your vest or sash, just like a badge. 2″ round sew-on photo patch. Made in USA.
